Pastor Roberta attended Converge214 in Columbus, Georgia. The text of Ephesians 2:14, “For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility” challenged those in attendance to do what is necessary to see that there can be unity in diversity in the church. Christ Community Church organized the conference. Speakers such as Dr. John Perkins, Bryan Loritts, Dr. Korie Edwards, Dr. John Fuder, and Dr. Soong-Chan Rah presented the powerful challenge to the church to no longer be divided along racial and ethnic lines. Having healthy church communities that are multi-racial and multi-ethnic is challenging. As was stated in the conference program: “separate but equal is easier. We have different music, different styles, different stories and different experiences. And it’s easier to relate to people who share those things in common. But what if we chose to take the more challenging road of exploring ways of listening to each other, learning from each other, and loving each other in real and practical ways?”
